Vintage sterling silver skull ring. From a collection of antique jewelry, this ring possibly dates to the first half of the 20th century or even earlier. Made by Bell.
Measurements: Weight is 18.1 grams. US size 11.5.
Description : A grinning skull ring, very well made and very solid. Great patina. The ring came from an antique collector who had a sub-collection of skull jewelry, collected decades ago. While we cannot date most of the skull rings, this one appears to be from the early 20th century.
Skull jewelry is highly collectible amongst different groups of collectors: those interested in fascinating historical interests, such as the Georgian / Victorian messaged Memento Mori (remember, we will all die); bikers, Hells Angels, Goths and others ; Mexicans, who celebrate 'dia de los muertos' the Day of the Dead with Calaveras or skull jewelry.
Marks and Metal: A bell shaped logo with the word BELL and STERLING around it inside the shank.
Condition: Good with minor wear commensurate with age and use. Appears to have been resized long ago. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
