Vintage Retro Earrings Egyptian Revival 14k Gold Emeralds Austrian (6430)

Vintage Retro earrings ear clips - Egyptian Revival. 14k red and yellow gold, emeralds. Made in Austria circa 1940's.

 

Measurements: a little over an inch (2.5 cm long). Weigh 14 grams. 

Description : Full of movement and imaginative design, the earrings are strongly Retro with a hint of Egyptian Revival in the stylised lotus leaves. A sweeping half hoop of yellow gold with a textured red gold lotus leaf overlapping the yellow gold and fanning outwards with two parallel part-hoops of emeralds in the opposite direction and forming a contrast to the lower swoosh of yellow gold. The emeralds are calibre cut and set and add to the lotus theme and illusion of a living object. The design with many complex and subtle features such as the continuously contrasting swooping sections and the contrast in colors and textures. Sophisticated European design. Ear clips are very comfortable to wear and very secure. 

Marks: Clips with 3 marks: RB (maker?), 585 for 14k gold and a lozenge, somewhat triangular in shape.
