Vintage Pair Turtle Brooches 18k Gold Diamonds Green Garnets w Appraisal (6836)

Vintage pair of brooches. 18k gold, rose-cut diamonds and tsavorite garnets. Unisex - can be worn by a man or a woman.

 

Measurements: Combined weight is 21.30 grams. Length of larger turtle is a tad under 1 1/4 inches (3cm).

 

Description : Naturalistically modelled turtles / tortoises, the larger with movable parts. Mounted in yellow gold, the carapaces (shells) are entirely pave set with rose cut diamonds and fabulous green tsavorite garnets. A rounded, curling border around the edges of the body is naturalistic looking.

 

While the underside of the smaller turtle is open to allow light to penetrate the gems from both sides, the larger turtle has a closed tummy, the surface beautifully engraved with reptilian scales. Smaller turtle has a c-clasp to the pin, while the larger turtle has a larger, tubular catch to the pin.

 

Heads are also set with diamonds as are little tails. Golden legs, shown as though the turtles are in motion, are naturalistically textured with the rough, scaly surface of these reptiles, beautifully modelled to show the wrinkled age of these wonderful creatures. The legs of the larger turtle are movable and can be pushed forward and back. Feet end in tiny, modelled claws.

 

Workmanship is outstanding. While they are clearly a pair, the tortoises can be worn together or seperately. They can be worn by either a man or a woman and are truly unisex jewelry. Guaranteed to catch every eye and command admiration from every viewer. They are a truly fabulous and versatile pair of animals. 

 

Marks and Metal: No marks were found. Gold was electronically tested to ensure metal purity.
