Vintage Earrings Navajo silver natural turquoise horses very long (7334)

Vintage Navajo earrings ear pendants. Silver and turquoise. Made circa 1960-70's.

Measurements: Weight is 18.6 grams. Over 3 1/2 inches (9cm) long.

Description : An exceptionally striking and attractive pair of earrings, all hand made using natural, American turquoise.
3 main sections: the upper section in the formof a beautifully carved and moulded horse head. The heads in profile, face towards or away from one another. Besides naturalistic detail of the features, there are geometric patterns such as the zigzagging mane and pie-crusts along the bottom.
The middle section is a large oval turquoise gem stone set in a silver mount with ropetwist border. The turquoise is absolutely fabulous with natural striations, like dentrites or lightening bolts. Very striking.
Below this, a curved, simply patterned plaque supports a fringe of 3 long, long twisted silver drops, each ending in an oval of turquoise. Turquoise is again, a lovely color and well matched. The fringes swing and sway as the wearer moves, adding further interest to the earrings.
Long silver wires are easy to insert, secure and comfortable.
All original, absolutely fabulous design and interest.

Marks and Metal: No marks.
