Vintage Antique Art Deco - Retro Chinese Ring 14k Gold Carnelian (6144)

Vintage / antique ring. 14k yellow gold and carved carnelian. Art Deco to Retro era - circa 1925-40's. Possibly made in the USA for the Chinese market.

Measurements: US size 5.5. Bezel is a little over 3/4 inch (2cm) long. Weighs 5.2 grams.

Description: The bezel is set with a large, carved carnelian in the shape of a beehive and with the color of warm honey. The gold mount is very beautiful with overlapping ribbons and scrolls in a Chinese symbolic depiction. Very fine detail to the workmanship such as the saw-edge edge of the mount and the ring of tiny filigree circles that surround concentric borders of the bezel.

Marks: Inside the shank is hallmarked 14k and has a maker's mark.

Condition: good with minor wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer. During the late 1930's, yellow and brown stones were very popular, so the ring likely dates to 1938-9.
