Vintage brooch. 14k yellow gold. Made by Sloan & Co, New York, USA, circa 1950's. Measurements: 1 1/8 inches (3cm) long. Weighs 3.6 grams. French Poodles, actually originating in Germany, have been bred and trained for hundreds of years. They are about the most intelligent dogs out there, as well as amongst the most beautiful. During the 1950's every smart French woman wasn't quite dressed to go out without her equally smart and well-kept French poodle. THe fashion spread to the rest of the world, not least the USA, where skinny-waisted, elegant snouted, long-eared and pompom tailed poodles became extremely popular.
