Antique Victorian dresser box. Sterling silver. Made in the USA by Tiffany & Co. 1891 - 1902.
Measurements: Weight is 189.4 grams. Length is 5 3/8 inches (13.8cm).
Description : Long, rectangular box made of sterling silver. The Sterling silver dresser box was used to hold jewelry or trinkets and probably was kept on a dresser or next to one's bed.
Repousse foliate scrolls on lid in front and sides with engraved detail. Monogram ornately engraved - possibly WEB. A smaller version of the foliate pattern seen on the lid is repeated all the way around the sides of the box, beneath the lid.
Light gold wash on inside of lid.
Lid with long, strong and sturdy hinge. Thumbpiece makes it easy to open.
A versatile and useful item that would make the perfect gift for a man or a woman.
Marks and Metal: hallmarked on the ridged edge where the lid catches it: Right side engraved STERLING 925-1000 and letter 'T'. The letter T indicates 1891 - 1902.
On the left the ridge is engraved: Tiffany & Co T 0212 Makers 38T 5
Condition: Good with minor wear/dings commensurate with age. Inside, bottom with minor discoloration that can be cleaned off or covered with a cloth. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
