Tiffany & Co Antique Nouveau Pendant Necklace Platinum Diamonds Amethyst (7079)

Antique Art Nouveau Edwardian Belle Epoque pendant necklace. Platinum, diamonds, amethyst. Made in the USA by Tiffany & Co. circa 1900 - 1910. Measurements: Weight is 9.9 grams. Each side of the chain is approximately 8 3/4 inches (22cm). Pendant drop is approximately 1 1/2 inches (just under 4.5cm). Amethyst is 26.27ct. Diamonds 0.72ct. Description : Art Nouveau design with scrolling upper section composed of stylised flowers and foliage, pave set with diamonds in filigree platinum mount. A pair of loops leads to the drop. This allows the drop to swing independently as the wearer moves. The drop has a calyx-like upper section, echoing the stylised botanic feel, also entirely pave set with diamonds. From this, like a bud emerging, is a deep, Siberian amethyst, briolette cut into a pear shape, very popular at the time. Beautiful quality amethyst - transluscent and light or opaque and dark, depending on how the light catches it. The vertical, large solid amethyst is contrasted by the horizontal, gently flowing platinum diamond curves. Marks and Metal: Back of pendant is marked TIFFANY & CO.
