Estate ring. 14k yellow gold, diamonds and natural alexandrite. No significant age. Has GIA certificate on alexandrites as well as independent appraisal on all stones and metal.

Measurements: Weight is 4.20 grams. Size slightly over US 5. Alexandrites are 0.86ct. Diamonds 0.44ct.

Description : A sturdy, broad gold band with bezel in the form of a crossover, known as toi et moi (you and me) by the French.
The crossover ends on both sides with an oval alexandrite, surrounded by a ring of diamonds. Diamonds of a good quality (see appraisal). The alexandrite is extremely rare and these gems have a GIA certificate as well as an independent certificate. Light causes color change. In regular light, I see the stones as a bright sky blue. GIA calls it blueish green. I did manage to get a green 'photo, taken outside (see 'photos). In candle light, color is pinky purple. See notes of GIA and other appraisal for further details of color.

Marks and Metal: 14k gold engraved in shank.

Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.

Appraisal values this ring over $15000.00

THE STORY: The GIA introduces us to alexandrite with the following: Often described by gem aficionados as “emerald by day, ruby by night,” alexandrite is the very rare color-change variety of the mineral chrysoberyl. Originally discovered in Russia’s Ural Mountains in the 1830s, it’s now found in Sri Lanka, East Africa, and Brazil, but fine material is exceptionally rare and valuable.
