George III sterling silver and twisted whalebone wine toddy ladle made by Josiah Snatt, London, 1798. Made in England United Kingdom.
Measures 15inches long.
Bowl is 3 1/4inch wide.
Sumptuous oval shaped bowl, very good patina.
Hallmarked in the center: lion, leopard head, JS (maker), somewhat worn date mark and monarch's head.
Handle is also silver with beautiful forked join to back of bowl.
curves gently and changes from flat to round, where it joins the whalebone section of the handle, which ends in a sterling silver cap.
Perfect for serving punch or fruit salad as well as any other table delicacy.
