Antique earrings - known as Georgian in England or First Empire in France (the time of Napoleon Bonaparte). 18k gold. Made in southern Italy, 1790-1810.

Measurements: Weight is 5.2 grams. 2 5/8 inches (72mm) long.

Description : Almost textbook example of jewelry made immediately after the French Revolution up to the reign of Napoleon Bonaparte in France. While normally associated with France, this jewelry was made throughout Europe, including southern Italy, such as this excellent example. Typically, these earrings have a very big look, but are extremely thin and light, making them comfortable to wear. They consist of various romantic and decorative symbols, such as hearts and scrolls joined via thin gold chains and very fine scrolling filigre work. Set with dangling gold balls and bubbles that swing and sway as the wearer moves. Simple gold wires are easy to insert and comfortable to wear. Versatile and wearable, with a fabulous look.
Earrings from this period are very scarce and it's not common to find them in such great shape.

Marks and Metal: No marks, as is to be expected. Gold was tested to ensure metal purity. (actually tested as 19k in most places).

Condition: Good with minor wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
