THE STORY:

Around 1900, Cartier was one of the first jewellers to master the use of platinum. During the Belle Epoque era (before the First World War), through to the Deco period, they produced possibly their greatest masterpieces using platinum to show off diamonds and pearls, which seemingly floated in the air. While Cartier jewelry is always sought after, jewelry from this period is especially rare and desireable. THe quality of workmanship by Cartier during this era was unsurpassed and led them to become possibly the greatest jewellers of the time.
The elongated, pointy oval is known as a navette or boat shape. The navette style of the ring places it firmly in the late Victorian era, when rings of this shape were especially popular.
