Antique Ring 14K Gold Rainbow Jelly Opal Ring Early 1900's (5973)
Measurements: Approximately US size 6. Weighs 7.4grams.
Early twentieth century flower cluster ring consisting of a central cabochon opal surrounded by a ring of similar opals. Golden granulation between the colette-set opals. Colettes are scalloped to show off opals to better effect. Like most eary rings, the back is largely closed, but there is a large oval in the center through which light can enter. Forked shoulders and simple gold shank.
Opals display a glow of every color in the rainbow, depending on the angle that light catches them. Move slightly and the color of each stone changes from clear to deep greens, blues, oranges and yellows. A fascinating ring that makes quite a large statement.
Marks: inside the shank is hallmarked 14k.
Condition: generally good condition with minor wear to the gold, commensurate with age and wear. Most of the opals are in good shape with minor wear and scratches commensurate with age. One of the opals is very clearly cracked. Please see enlarged photos for details. Do not hesitate to ask questions, which we will do our best to answer.
