Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Footed Tray J&J Angell London Armorial (5285)
Antique Victorian footed tray. Sterling silver. Made London England 1847 by Joseph Angell I and Joseph Angell II.
Measurements: Approximately 15 3/4inches (40cm) in diameter. Approximately 1 3/4 inches (4.5cm) high. Weighs 1840grams.
Round tray with wavy beaded border with fan-shaped shells at 7 intervals on the edge. These lead to ribbons and shells and buds around wheels within a wavy raised ribbon. The flat surface is engraved in typical Victorian design with an armorial in the center. Latin inscription around the armorial. The tray stands on 3 sturdy shell-shaped scrolling feet. Beautiful workmanship for which the Angells were famous.
Marks: the back of the tray is hallmarked with the following: JA over JA for the makers; lion passant for sterling silver; leopard head for London; date letter M and Queen Victoria's head facing left.antiqu
