Antique, Victorian openwork sterling silver fish slice / fish server. Made 1847, London, United Kingdom by Hyam Hyams. Judaica.
Measurements: A little over 12 1/4 inches long. Weighs 146.2 grams.
Beautiful fish slice with openwork and engraved decoration all over the blade. A large enclosed leaf-shaped lozenge with a pierced fish motif, surrounded by openwork scrolls. Bright cut engraving border and highlights the different areas.
Great quality and very solid.
Hyam Hyams was a very highly regarded Jewish silversmith in London. His silver is therefore sought after both by antique silver collectors as well as for its Judaica value.
Hallmarks: Maker's mark HH; lion passant; leopard head; date mark 'M'; queen's head in profile.
