Antique Victorian parure jewelry set consisting of a bib necklace and dangle earrings. Made in Italy, 19th century.
Measurements: Weight is 52.7 grams. Necklace is 17 inches (43cm) long. Earrings are approximately 1 7/8 (4.75cm) long.
Description : Fascinating jewelry set combosed of round, oval and tear-drop-shaped sections connected by small gold links. Each section is made of tiny round rings of gold, in concentric circles. A larger section in the middle. The tiny gold rings are individually set with a natural pearl. (there were no cultured pearls when this necklace was made). The central ring with a gold colette holding a cabochon green tourmaline of an emerald green color. Almost certainly entirely hand made in the South of Italy. Earrings are long dangles with the tear-shaped drops able to swing and sway freely as the wearer moves. Original wires were replaced with screw-backs some time between the late Victorian and early 20th century - at least 100 years ago. Tongue-in-groove clasp is secure and easy to open/close. Unusual and highly attractive combination of pearls, green gems and gold. Looks stunning when worn.
Marks and Metal: No marks. Gold was acid tested to ensure metal purity.
Condition: Good with minor wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
