Antique Victorian ring. 18k gold, enamel, diamonds and tiny gems. Made in England, UK. Fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1900, but possibly earlier. Unisex - suitable for a man or woman.
Measurements: Weight is 5.6 grams. US size 6.3.
Description : Unique double snake ring. A pair of intertwined snakes form a double band - one in gold and green enamel and one in gold and red enamel. The heads overlap one another. Each head is gypsey set with a small round diamond in a gold diamond-shaped cell. Eyes are minute gems - too small to overlap, but appear to be emeralds and rubies. Gold and enamel pattern immitating scales on entire outer surface.
Highly wearable and appropriate for any kind of outfit by a man or a woman.
Great quality workmanship.
Marks and Metal: Fully hallmarked: crown and 18 for 18ct gold; C.R.B is the maker's mark; Crown and 18 again for 18ct; anchor for Birmingham; date letter 'a' for 1900. It is very likely that the ring was actually made earlier and hallmarks added later. Either way, the ring still falls into the Victorian era, made in Birmingham, UK.
Condition: Good condition. Very minor wear commensurate with age - only mentioned for the sake of total accuracy, but not visible to my naked eye. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
