Antique Victorian Necklace 14k Gold Turquoise Pearls Revivalist (6504)
Measurements: Approximately 15 inches (39cm) long. Distance from top to bottom of drop approximately 1 inch (3cm). Weighs 32.3 grams.
Description : Fringe necklace falls at the nape of the neck for most seductive appearance. It consists of a sturdy ribbon of gold links suspending alternating longer and shorter drops. The longer drops are in the form of lotus flower buds set with cabochon turquoise. They are suspended from knife-edge gold stalks with golden globules / granules in the center, en route to the buds. Another golden globule forms a terminal at the bottom of the flower. The shorter stations are gold loops suspending short gold bars above collete-set pearls. Pearls and turquoise seem to float in gold pools. The ribbon like suspending chain is composed of an intricate composition of gold rings surrounded by filigree gold scrolls. It has a lace-like appearance.
During the 2nd half of the 19th century, Revivalist jewelry was very popular. The lotus flower buds are a gentle hint at the Egyptian Revival theme. A tongue-in-groove clasp is all but invisible when closed - forming an unbroken line with the chain.
Beautifully made and absolutely stunning when worn. Turquoise and pearls compliment every women and her every outfit.
