Antique Man's Ring yellow Sapphire Diamond Gold Unisex Appraisal India (6808

Antique Victorian ring. 18k gold, silver, sapphire and diamonds. Made in India, 19th century. 

Measurements: Weight is 9.7 grams. US size 10. 1.97ct rose cut diamonds. 5.55ct sapphire. 

Description : The bezel has a large, central yellow foiled, sapphire, oval in shape. Sapphire is foiled/closed at the back so appears very bright yellow. It is held in a high gold cell. Surrounded by rose-cut diamonds, held in silver, typical of the period. The ring arches to accommodate the shape of a finger. Shank with repousse floral decoration that forks into 3 branches at the shoulders and meets up with 3 diamonds of the bezel on either side. Shank possibly not original to bezel, but they have clearly been together for a very long time. 

While the ring is unisex in that it can be worn by either a man or a woman, it was clearly made for a man. The large, bold design, very strong colors and mere size of the ring are all suitable for a man. 

Marks and Metal: No marks. Ring was independently appraised (see photos).

 

Condition: Good with minor wear commensurate with age. Tiny hints of solder at join of shank to bezel inside the ring. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
