Antique late Victorian - Edwardian tiara. Jadeite jade, 14k gold and metal.

Measurements: Weight is approximately 25.1 grams. Total length of the tiara is approximately 10 1/4 inches (26cm).
Size of jade, not including part inside metal mount: largest approximately 1.7cm long and 7mm wide; smallest 12 cm long and 7cm wide.

Description : A classic tiara mount with gold loops at either end for attaching to a ribbon or other means of securing on the head. 15 pear-shaped, natural jadeite jade cabochons, each set in a calyx-shaped, gold mount, as though a budding flower. The design takes us back to the most ancient of tiaras - made of real flower buds, absolutely timeless despite the centuries.
Because of the convenient shape of the mount and its length, the tiara is very easy to simply place on the head,  and is not in need of a host of securing methods.
Bottom wire is metal and gold mounts, like calyxes of flowers, are gold.
The whole forms a very pretty arc of jade that will be beautifully offset against dark or light hair.
Timeless and classic, this is a very wearable tiara.

Although antique jewelry goes through many hands, most of which we will never hear about, we discovered this exact tiara was sold at Christies a number of years ago. At the time, it was accompanied by a certificate from The Gem & Pearl Laboratory, London, stating that 3 gems were tested and found to be natural with no evidence of treatment.
Unfortunately, the certificate was lost by a previous owner.

Marks and Metal: No marks. Gold was tested electronically between 18 and 22k and acid tested as at least 18k. Because of the uncertainty, we are guarranteeing at least 14k.

Condition: Good with minor wear commensurate with age.  Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
