Antique Victorian Earrings yellow gold swing dangling drop bells filigree (7437)
Antique Victorian earrings. Yellow gold. Made in England, Great Britain, circa 1870-90's.
Measurements: Weight is 4.5 grams. 1 7/8 inches (4.7cm) long, not including wires.
Description : Victorian earrings with a great figural design in the form of bells.
Tops/surmounts in the form of two cojoined spheres - a small and then a big globe, adorned in front with filigree wirework designs. A loop leads to the main body of the bell, which is an elongated, elgant pear shape. A large round sphere dangles below, also adorned with filigree decoration. Finally, a loop connects to an articulated tassel.
Each section of the earrings can move independently of the others, with additional movement in the flexible tassel. Literally swing and sway as the wearer moves.
Wires, as with most Victorian earrings, are replacements.
The earrings are very easy to insert and their light weight makes them extremely comfortable to wear.
The geometry of the forms is particularly lovely and elegant with the rich color of the gold and filigree conveying a sense of luxury. Elegant, subtly sensual earrings with a sense of fun in the bell shapes.
Delightful novelty jewelry is highly sought after by collectors.
Perfect gift for a graduation, engagement or wedding, these earrings are totally versatile and can be worn by day with your casual clothes or to a fun party. Great conversation piece.
