Antique Victorian earrings. Gold, diamonds. Made in Naples, south Italy late 19th to early 20th century.
Independent appraisal.

Measurements: Weight is 3.3 grams. Approximately 3/8 inch (1cm) in diameter. 1.53ct rose-cut diamonds.

Description : A small pair of diamond earrings. Mounted in gold and flower formed. Tiny diamond surmounts above a flower composed of a central, larger diamond and small diamond petals around it. An openwork grid of gold holds up diamonds and allows light to enter from all angles. This results in fantastic glow, glitter and gleam, which more than compensates for the small size of the gems.
Lever back closure - very secure.
Very pretty, classic, versatile, 'go-to' earrings that can be worn with any outfit from your jeans, to a business suit or a party. Small but effective with their glisten and gleam, they will set off any face and complexion to best advantage.

Marks and Metal: Engraved '8' on the back of each lever arch. Gold was electronically tested as 11-12ct. 12ct was the standard in Naples during the 19th century.

Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.

THE STORY: for centuries, southern Italy, in particular Naples and Sicily were major centers of beautiful jewelry manufacture. While a lot of jewelry is mis-attributed to these locations, we actually got these earrings from a specialist who lives in Naples, so while there are no hallmarks, we can be pretty sure of their origin.

These earrings were independently appraised with a value of $5500.00
