Antique Victorian Earrings Ear Pendants Aquamarine Diamonds Platinum Gold (7078)
Antique Victorian / Edwardian earrings ear pendants. Platinum, diamonds, aquamarine and 18k gold. Made circa 1895 - 1905.
Measurements: Weight is 11.4 grams. Length approximately 1 3/4 inches (6.75cm).
Description : Long earrings or ear pendants. Metal is platinum and platinum over 18k gold as was the style during the late Victorian and Edwardian periods. Diamods set in platinum to show them off to better effect, but with traditional gold backing. Elongated kite shaped surmounts, starting at a point near the lobe of the ear, flaring outwards and then flaring back at the bottom and meeting with a round diamond in a colette setting. The surmount is an openwork border of pave set diamonds in milligraine platinum with two round diamonds on a knife edge mount in the center - as though floating in air. Tiny loops connect the surmount to the drop, allowing the drop to swing and sway freely as the wearer moves. The drop begins with a pair of leaves in platinum set diamonds, front and back, that hold a long briolette, faceted aquamarine of a lovely blue color. Exceptionally pretty and elegant. Simple gold wires are easy to insert and comfortable to wear, could be replacements.
Marks and Metal: No marks. Acid tested to ensure metal purity.
Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
