Antique Victorian earrings dangle ear pendants. 15k gold, silver, diamonds. Made in England, United Kingdom, circa 1890.
Measurements: Weight is 7.4 grams. A tad over 1 inch (3cm) in length. 5.29ct diamonds.
Description : Composed entirely of diamonds, set in silver over gold, which was the custom during the 19th century. This was done to show the diamonds of to greater effect in candle or gas light. Since silver tarnishes, backs or any part that might touch the body or clothes was done in gold. This can clearly be seen in these earrings.
Surmounts are cushiony old mine cut diamonds, set in silver and backed in gold, per above. Posts are easy to insert.
Tiny gold loops connect the surmounts to a small diamond forming a line to the drops and allowing the drops to move freely, swing and sway as the wearer moves.
Dangle drops are magnificent. Concentric circles of diamonds form a dome, rising to a central large cushiony old mine cut. The surrounding diamonds are round, old European cuts. Very finely set. The central, largest and highest diamond is held by tiny gold prongs. The rest of the diamonds are set in silver.
Excellent workmanship and design. These earring are extremely elegant and perfect for a ball, party or other stylish event. True heirlooms - they should be enjoyed and then passed down to future generations.
Marks and Metal: No marks. Gold was acid tested (our appraiser tested it as 18k, but we are guarranteeing 15k to be more conservative).
Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
Independent gemological appraisal available to new owner.
