Antique Victorian Earrings 18k Gold Tiny Crl Cameos French Girandole (6547)
Antique Victorian earrings. 18k gold and coral. Made in France, circa 1860.
Measurements: Not including the wires, the length at the longest point is a little over an inch (2.75cm). Weigh 3.9 grams.
Description : Variation of the girandole form of the 18th century. Bright, cheerful and colorful earrings in yellow gold and bright red natural coral. Tops of gold with flower form. The gold engraved with simple patterns. Within the gold surmounts are tiny coral cameos depicting a pair of women. The portraits are a true pair, with one bust looking to the right and one to the left. Loops suspend 3 drops with the central drop being lower than those on either side. They are like small red and gold fruit or buds of flowers with gold mounts on top and at the apex. They swing and sway as the wearer moves. Although quite small, this is a delightful pair of earrings. Lever backs.
Marks: Hallmarks on the post are not clear (due to age and wear). They appear to include the owl for 18k gold of unknown French maker.
Condition: Negligible wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
