Antique Victorian earrings, ear clips. 18k gold, garnet cabochons and diamonds. Made in England, United Kingdom, circa 1860 - 1880.

Measurements: Weight is 11.0 grams. A little under 3/4 inch (17mm) in diameter. 1.78ct diamonds; 3.86ct garnets.

Description : the Victorians, like the Georgians before them, loved deep, rich red cabochon garnets, which they called carbuncles. This classic, elegant pair of garnet carbuncles is surrounded and offset by a ring of rosecut diamonds. Garnets are a little bigger than what we usually see in earrings of this sort and make a stronger statement. The clips at the back are almost certainly replacements to hold the posts securely in place.
As wearable and attractive today as they were almost 150 years ago. They will match any outfit from your jeans to a smart business suit.  

Marks and Metal: No marks were found. Gold tested electronically and with acid for 18k.
