Antique Victorian Napoleon III earrings. 18k gold and foiled citrines. Made in France, circa 1850 - 1890.

Measurements: Weight is 3.7 grams. Length, not including wires approximately 1 1/2 inches (a little under 4cm).

Description : Simply elegant! Pair of long ear pendants from the period of Napoleon III or possibly earlier. Simple gold wires with a hinged wire catch, support a pair of colette-set citrines, foiled and closed at the back. Below, a loop connects to a long, knife-edge gold bar that can swing and sway as the wearer moves. At the bottom is a larger citrine, also closed and foiled. The color appears honey-like orange, with a deep glow.
These earrings are very comfortable to wear and versatile. They can be worn with your jeans or to a fancy dinner party. Their light weight and simple wires make them easy to insert and very comfortable to wear.
During the Georgian and early Victorian era, gems were usually closed and foiled, which makes them brighter and more colorful in appearance, but more difficult to appraise.

Marks and Metal: Hallmarks on wires. Gold was also tested with acid to ensure metal purity.

Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
