Description : A wonderful brooch depicting a dog jumping through a hoop. The dog with pointing ears and forelegs stretched forward. Tail and hind legs stretched out at the back as he leaps through a golden hoop. He wears a gold collar and his ears and hooded eye are also gold. The entire surface of his body is pave set with old and rose cut diamonds. 19th century French were fond of dog brooches. This is an unusually large one, with bigger diamonds than is normally to be seen. Very well made and great design with a strong sense of power as the dog leaps through the swirling gold hoop. Great contrast between the diamonds and gold. A fabulous jewel for either man or woman to wear.
Marks and Metal: French eagle head hallmark for 18k gold. 1816 engraved on side is of unknown significance.
Condition: Good with minor wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer. Independent appraisal available to new owner.
