Antique Victorian Bracelet Bangle Diamonds Sapphire 18k Gold w Appraisal (5924)

Antique Victorian bracelet bangle. 18k Gold, silver, diamonds and sapphire. Made circa 1880. Believed to be made in England.

 

Measurements: Gold band is 1/2 inch (13.5mm) wide. Length is 7 3/4 inches (20cm). Weighs 35.3grams. Ceylon Sapphire approximately 2.50ct. Sapphire appraised as free of inclusions. Old mine cut diamonds approximately 3.50ct.

 

Bracelet in curved band links, tightly interwoven and interlocking, allowing for both flexibility and stability. The terminals of the gold band have gold sculpted collars and terminate in a series of openwork scrolls. Tongue in groove clasp.

 

The top of the bracelet is an outstanding gemset flower: the center with an oval sapphire of a light but intense blue, surrounded by two rings of diamonds. Diamonds set in silver, typical of the period, in order to show them off to better effect. The inner circle of diamonds is smaller, the outer, larger. Cushion shapes and absolutely stunning. A gold safety chain for additional security.

 

Marks: none: gold was acid tested and stays for 18k.
