Antique Tiffany & Co Openwork Sterling Silver Large Bowl Dish Centerpiece (5167)
Antique sterling silver bowl centerpiece. Made by Tiffany & Co during the presidency of John C Moore, 1907 - 1938.
Measurements: approximately 12 1/4 inches in diameter; 3 inches high. Weighs 766.7 grams.
Deep round bowl. Unfooted. Fluted sides with reflection of light bounced infinitely accross each of the concave curves. Turned down rim extending about 2 inches, forms the focus of interest. As the rim undulates gently around the perimeter, each lobe of the scalloped edge has raised decorated and openwork leaves and berries. Beautiful quality, for which Tiffany was renowned clearly demonstrated in this luxury item.
Marks: Underneath is engraved TIFFANY & CO 16346 Makers 183 STERLING SILVER 925-1000 M, where the M is the mark for John C Moore, then the President of the company. An engraved M in the bottom of the bowl adds interest and intrigue about it's previous owner.
Condition: good. Negligible wear commensurate with age.
