Antique, Late Victorian Teaset. Sterling silver teapot, milk jug / pitcher and sugar basin. Made London, England by Edward Barnard & Sons (see below) 1900-1901. 

Measurements: teapot approx 28cm from spout to handle; 14.5cm high. Combined weight 1188grams.

Hallmarks: Milk jug echoes the shape of the previous two items with a scrolling handle identical to those on the sugar bowl. 

Each item is engraved with a number (589,927,696 respectively) and each item is hallmarked with makers mark, lion for sterling standard, leopard head for London and date letter ('e' on teapot and sugar bowl; 'f' for milk jug indicating 1900 and 1901). 

Makers Mark: a shield with B WM JS RD for Walter, John, Michael, Stanley Barnard and Robert Dubock, which was the precursor of Edward Barnard and Sons Ltd. The internet provides us with information on this company, telling us that it is the oldest manufacturing silversmith in the world, the origin of this business having been established by Anthony Nelme c. 1680. Condition: good with negligible wear commensurate with age.
