Antique, Victorian mother of pearl handled, sterling silver Stilton cheese scoop / cheese server. Made Birmingham, England, 1837.
Measurements:
Length is a little over 7 1/2 inches.Weighs 53.3grams.
Description:
Sturdy utensil for serving Stilton or any other cheese. In fact, the width of the scoop makes it suitable for picking up a variety of dining products. The mother of pearl handle, broadening slightly towards the terminal with a small rounded rectangular edge.
Marks and Metal:
Hallmarked on the underside of the scoop: maker T&P; lion passant for sterling standard; monarch (Victoria just acceded); date letter D for 1837 and anchor for Birmingham.
Condition:
Good. No damage or restorations.
