Mystery Alishan Ring 18k Gold Diamonds Square Wedding Band Gothic Unusual (5630)
Mystery Alishan Ring 18k Gold Diamonds Square Wedding Band Gothic Unusual (5630)
Estate ring. 18k Yellow gold and diamonds. Possibly from the Gothic collection by Alishan, USA - see below.
Measurements: Approximately US size 7 (slightly under); Outer measurement is just under an inch (22mm) across. Weighs 11.6grams. 56 diamonds weigh 1.12ct G-H color.
A wonderfully unusual, luxurious ring. Unique design from the shape to the decorative patterns. Made in rich yellow gold.
Ring in a rounded square shape, but circular inside to be worn comfortably on your finger. The center of each side in openwork gold foliate design. Rounded shoulders of the bezel are very finely set with small diamonds. Fascinating and unusual with a wonderfully unique look. Can be worn with any side on top. Very well made and feels luxurious to the touch.
This ring has an interesting history. It has travelled the world (bought overseas), and despite a lot of mystery, it was identified as a ring made by Alishan, an Armenian jeweller working in California who has won multiple awards for his jewelry and who is collected by many celebrities. Circa early 2000's. Thank you Jessica for that information. The design is part of his Gothic Collection. This ring will make a fabulous ring to wear alone, stacked with other rings or as a wedding band.
Marks and metal: This adds to the mystery. We found no marks on the ring. We tested it with sophisticated electronic equipment as 22k. Acid testing appears to stay for 22k, but we feel more comfortable guarranteeing 18k - see next paragraph.
We saw other jewelry made by Alishan, but it was in silver and 18k gold. As mentioned above, this ring tests as 22k gold and there is no silver. The lady who told us about Alishan said that perhaps in his early days, he used 22k gold. Perhaps someone can enlighten us on these mysteries.
Condition: good with negligible wear commensurate with age.
This ring was independantly appraised. It retails for $3800.00
Please note: we recently noticed that there is an error in the appraisal. I count 28 diamonds, not 56. I assume the ct weight is approximately half what she calculated.
