Antique Ring 14k Gold Sugarloaf Green Chalcedony Pinky Ring Emerald Green (6610)
Antique Ring 14k Gold Sugarloaf Green Chalcedony Pinky Ring Emerald Green (6610)
Measurements: US size 3 - 3 1/2 (can be resized). Weighs 3.9 grams.
Description : A fantastic sugarloaf, green chalcedony gem with a lovely emerald-green color. Great shape and proportion. It is held in a mount of moulded gold with flowers and foliage in small detail. The stone rises up within this interesting gold mount making for a doubly interesting feature. The shank is a bipart simple gold. There are two 'bumps' inside the shank that were probably there for sizing (any information casting some further light and explaining what they were for, will be greatly appreciated). The gem is quite transluscent and there is a lovely play of light and dark tones, depending on how/where the light catches it.
A most unusual and good-looking ring. Suitable for wear by a man or a woman. Marks: 14k engraved inside shank.
Condition: Shank is worn commensurate with age and use, but no damage. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
I received the following information from a generous jewelry person: Hi... with regard to those "bumps" inside the shank, they are called "shots" and are used on rings that are top heavy, to keep them centered on the finger. They do not change the size of the ring, but take up room when the ring is seated at the base of the finger, preventing spin. Thank you for the input.
