Antique Victorian pendant brooch. 18k gold, pearls, diamonds. Made in England circa 1880's. In custom fitted case.

Measurements: Length is approximately 2 inches (5cm) including the bale. Weight is 16.7 grams. 1.61ct diamonds.

Description : Exquisite romantic and sentimental jewel. A tapering bale, sturdily crafted and set with line of graduated pearls. Links connect to an upper bow - a ribbon tied with a central knot, all constructed in yellow gold and rose cut diamonds. This section can be removed and the parts worn seperately as there is a screw (probably a replacement) and little gold bars that fit into the main body of the jewel. These gold bars would simply be lifted up and the bow and heart seperated.

The main body of the pendant/brooch is a magnificent, luxurious heart - in fact multiple hearts within hearts. A huge statement of love, affection, romance and sentiment. A pear of very big heart-shaped pearls are raised aloft above a border of rose cut diamond hearts, one overlapping and entwining the other in a further romantic statement. These are surrounded by a heart-shaped border of beautiful pearls, very finely set so that only the outer mount of yellow gold can be seen. Collette-set diamonds are set at stations around this to further catch the eye and finish off the jewel with a final flourish of lavish luxury.

Secure, hinged clasp enables this to be worn as a brooch as well as a pendant. The workmanship of this item is excellent. When you study the back, you can see how strongly made this is. From the front, the detail is superb with each part fitting snugly next to its neighbours. The pearls gleam and the diamonds shine. An outstanding jewel from its construction to magnificent appearance.

Marks: 18 for 18k on the back, near the tip of the heart.

Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.

Comes in a custom, turquoise velvet, fitted box with velvet and silk lining, most likely original to the piece. Independent appraisal available to new owner.
