Antique Giuliano Earrings Pendant Set Diamonds Natural Pearls Enamel Gold (6341)

Antique Victorian Renaissance Revival earrings and pendant set in original fitted box. 18k Gold, enamel, diamonds and natural pearls. Made by Carlo Giuliano and still in its original Hunt and Roskell box. Made in England, circa 1860 - 80. With GIA certificate that pearls are natural saltwater pearls.

Measurements: Pendant is a little under 3 1/2 inches long (8.5cm). Earrings a little over 2inches (5.5cm) long, not including the wires. Combined weight is 28.9 grams. GIA measured largest pearl as 8.05 X 7.33mm (and oval and white in shape and color).

Description: Matching pendant and earrings. Elongated fleur de lis foliage surmounts suspend diamond-shaped drops. The openwork gold is richly enamelled in deep, bright blue with white detail. The scrolling openwork rises towards the center, where rings of colette-set diamonds surround central pearls and more pearls are placed at each corner. Pearls are all believed to be natural. The earrings have drops from both sides and the bottom corner and the pendant has a matching, larger drop at the bottom. The pearl drops are enclosed, like budding flowers, in blue enamel calyxes. A diamond in a square gold colette lies betwen the large pearl drop of the pendant and the central body of the piece. Magnificent gold work, even at the back, with a gallery with gold granulations and as beautiful as the front. Pearls with exquisite luster; enamelwork and design are superb and closely related to the Holbeinesque Neo Renaissance style for which Carlo Giuliano was known. True museum quality.

The set comes in its original fitted box by Hunt and Roskell who were retailers specialising in very high class luxury jewelry as bought by the royal family and other exclusive clients. The box is in deep purple velvet with a silk inside to the lid. Like many luxury boxes of this firm, it is 8-sided. THe lid has rich gold embossed company marks as described below. Marks: Bale of pendant with oval mark for Carlo Giuliano (CG). Gold was acid tested to ensure metal purity. The box has an embossed gold crown above rich gold lettering HUNT & ROSKELL Late STORE & MORTIMER JEWELLERS & GOLDSMITHS TO THE QUEEN AND ROYAL FAMILY. 1.56 NEW BOND STREET.
