Antique Georgian ring. Silver, gold, topaz, diamonds. Made in England, Great Britain, early 19th century.
Unisex - suitable for a man or a woman.
Has certificate from World Gemological Institute (British).

Measurements: Weight is 4.0 grams (3.97). Topaz 6.5ct. US size 6.25 (can be resized).

Description : Very impressive, rare Imperial topaz. Rectangular in shape with flat topped crown, gently faceted sides. Beautiful color of the topaz with warm honey tones of gold and orange. The large, gleaming gem is surrounded by a border of pave set, tiny rose-cut diamonds. On either of the long sides, are silver scrolls, set with similar diamonds. This is all held above the finger by a rectangular mount, set on either side with a scrolling central, silver emblem with the gold forked and curling shoulders surrounding that. Gold shank with low ridged borders.
This ring is all about the fabulous topaz and the contrast between the large, warm gem in the center and the tiny glittering diamonds around it. Perfect balance.
Unlike many rings of this period and with colored gems, this ring is open at the back (not foiled or enclosed in gold). The color we see is therefore the true color of the gem and not enhanced by clever artificial methods.
A true cut above the rest.

Marks and Metal: As is to be expected of a ring of this age, there are no marks. Shank is 9-10k. Bezel is silver and metal.
Condition: Good with minor wear commensurate with age notably back of shank. Bezel in very good shape. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.

THE STORY: According to the internet, good Imperial topaz can command as much as $20000.00 per carat. All depends on the beauty of the stone and much is in the eye of the beholder. Wearing topaz is supposed to induce a calming effect and this ring is a wonderful example with its beautiful color and perfect sense of balance and proportion.
Rings like this from the Georgian period are very rare, especially with a gem like this one, adding to the desireability of the jewel. Lucky the person, man or woman, who will be its new owner and add his/her story to those of the previous generations who have enjoyed the ring for 200 years.
