Antique Georgian Ring 18k Gold Intaglio Cameo Carnelian French 18C Unisex (7027)

Antique Georgian ring. 18k gold, carnelian carved intaglio cameo. Made in France, 18th century. Unisex - suitable for a man or a woman. Measurements: Weight is 4.6 grams. US size 8.25. Length of bezel is 21mm. Description : Classic Georgian sensibility, style and dimentions. The rounded, full oval shape set with a carved carnelian intaglio. It depicts a man facing right. Full beard and foliate bandeau, tied in a bow at the back. Very nice detail. The cameo is set in a typically Georgian simple frame with beaded border in gold. The back is as lovely as the front. It consists of a swirling circle of gold, with the same beaded border as the upper surface. The simple gold shank divides into 3 simple leaves at the shoulders. Typically Georgian, the ring is relatively flat and sits beautifully on the finger. Suitable for a man or a woman. Marks and Metal: Outside of the shank has an old French eagle head (for 18k gold) and a small remnant of a maker's mark lozenge. Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age.
