Antique Georgian Fede Ring 12k Gold Hands Hardstone Intaglio Cameo Unisex (6714)
Antique Georgian fede friendship ring. 12k red gold. Hardstone intaglio. Ring dates to Georgian era late 18th / early 19th century. Cameo might be a little later. Unisex - for man or woman.
Measurements: US size 7.25. Weight is 4.1 grams. Description : Georgian ring, suitable for a man or a woman. Band forking as it nears the shoulders to a semi-circle above which rests a hand, open to hold the bezel. Hands on either side of the bezel form the shoulders. Bezel is typical Georgian - closed gold backs, raised and gently flaring at the sides, with beaded borders enclosing a hardstone cameo intaglio. The intaglio depicts a warrior in a helmet. It was common for jewelry to be updated as parts wore or for more trendy fashion, so it is possible that the cameo intaglio is from the Victorian period. Fede or friendship rings with a pair of hands coming together were popular symbolic jewelry during the Georgian and Victorian eras.
Marks and Metal: As is to be expected of jewelry of this period, there are no marks on the ring. Gold was acid tested.
Condition: Good with minor wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
