Antique early 20th century Edwardian Belle Epoque earrings ear pendants. Silver, gold and rose-cut diamonds. Made in France circa 1910- 1920.
Measurements: Weight is 4.7 grams. Length is 1 3/4 inches (4.5cm).
Description : A long, tapering ear pendant composed of 6 diamond - set sections connected via tiny loops, allowing flexibility, suppleness and for each section to move independently. Earrings thus swing and sway with the slightest movement of the wearer, catching the eye and adding interest. Biggest section at top with diamond held in an openwork silver cage-like mount. The following 4 stations are in the form of flowers and the ultimate, tapering foliate section with very tiny diamonds, at the bottom. During this period, diamonds were almost always set in silver to show them off to better effect in candle or gas light. The wires are gold and probably replacements. Upper, larger loops are also gold.
Earrings are easy to insert and comfortable to wear. As versatile today as they were over 100 years ago.
Marks and Metal: No marks found. Metal was tested to ensure purity.
Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
Independent appraisal available to new owner.
