Gold mounts are octogonal in the center with tear-shapes on either side. These are bordered by small ruby beads on either side. Top and bottom with pearls and emeralds. The top is a tiny emerald bead while the bottom drop is a larger emerald that along with it's supporting pearl swing as the wearer moves. To make earrings more easily worn by today's woman, wires were replaced.
These earrings are classic Indian design, made wearable for today's woman with smaller pierced ears. The colors are a wonderful combination of bright red and green around the glinting centers.
The front of the earrings date to the 19th century. It was common all over the world to adapt jewelry to suit more 'modern' taste and use.
