Antique Early Victorian Ring 18k Gold Diamonds London 1845 w Appraisal (6696)
Antique Early Victorian Ring 18k Gold Diamonds London 1845 w Appraisal (6696)
Measurements: US size 6. Weight is 4.0 grams. 2.0ct diamonds I-J color, SI clarity.
Description : Kite or diamond shaped bezel, rounded at the cardinal points and very finely set with old, rose cut diamonds. Cutting of gems shows traces of old Mine shape, being lushiously cushiony. Largest diamonds in the center, at the top and tapering towards the shoulders. Unusually, the diamonds continue down the shoulders to the sides of the shank, showing that this was a wonderfully luxurious ring from the beginning, with no expense spared and a delicate eye to fine detail. Beautifully made at the time and technique between Georgian and early Victorian eras.
Rich glow of diamonds rather than in-your-face bling. Quiet elegance at its best. Perfect as an engagement ring or wedding ring, this beautiful jewel is totally versatile and can be worn with anything from casual jeans to a visit to the opera.
Marks and metal : the following hallmarks are found inside the shank: 18; leopard head for London; date letter W for 1845; maker's mark OS. The outside of the shank, near the shoulder has the date letter as well.
Condition: Good with minor wear commensurate with age. Wear most evident to shank, which tapers towards the back, but is still solid and secure. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
