Antique Brooch French En Tremblant 18k Gold Diamonds Gems w Appraisal (4814)
Antique Victorian French Brooch Pin. 18k yellow gold topped with silver, diamonds, emeralds, rubies, sapphires and pearls. Made in France.
3 7/8 inch (10cm) long. Weighs 28.5grams. Approx. 2 carats of diamonds; Approximately 3 carats of rubies sapphires and emeralds. 5 pearls 3-4mm.
Outstanding brooch in the form of a spray of lilies of the valley. Like most Victorian / early Edwardian jewelry, the mount is gold topped with silver, which was seen to set off the gems to better effect. Beautifully cut old miner, shaped gemstones in the 3 primary colors, with pearls and an additional old mine cut diamond for balance and extra interest. The gems form the centers of the flowers with the mounts completing the image. A number of the gems are set so that they can move and quiver - in en tremblant action. The rose cut diamonds that form the leafy background to the spray of flowers is exceptionally well set for stones of this kind. The quality of both gemstones and workmanship is particularly lovely.
French hallmarks. (See 'photos).
Very good condition. No sign of any kind of damage/restoration. Independent appraisal available to new owner upon request.
