Antique late Baroque pendant collar or stomacher. 19k gold and natural pearls. Made in Venice, Italy, circa 1680.

Measurements: Weight is 11.8 grams. 4 1/2 inches (11.5cm) long. 2 1/4 inches (5.5cm) across from top point to top point.

Description : exquisitely made in fine gold openwork. Modelled gold foliage with engraved detail. Leaves of different sizes and shapes. Surrounded by gold scrolling wirework and set with natural pearls of varying sizes. Pearls not tested but from this period, we may assume they are all natural. Furthest points end with tiny discs or loops of gold.
Extremely delicate and light design and workmanship. Exceptionally beautiful.
The upper section is a curving rectangle, shaped and arching to conform to the roundness of the neck, slightly concave upper and lower edges. The bottom center supports an inner pendant that swings independently. A triangular central section is identically designed, but made to sit flat on the bottom of the throat. Finally, the bottom section is a modified diamond shape, continueing the same design and able to move independently of the upper sections.
High carat gold with bright yellow color. The quality of the workmanship can be seen as much from the beautiful details of the back as the front.
A double loop at the back of the upper section facilitates a chain or ribbon.
The jewel might have been worn in a number of ways: as a collar around the throat and neck; as a stomacher - sewn onto the bodice; as a regular pendant.
Would make a unique adornment for a bride.

Marks and Metal: No marks, as is to be expected. Electronic testing confirms 19k gold.

Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. No damage to be found. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
