Antique Arts and Crafts Art Nouveau Ring 14k Gold Sapphires Diamonds (6283)
Antique Arts and Crafts / Art Nouveau ring. 14k yellow gold, sapphires, diamonds. Made circa 1880 - 1900 during the late Victorian period.
Measurements: A tad under 1 inch (23mm) long. Weighs 3.9 grams. US size 3 3/4 (approx). Can be resized.
Description: Long, rounded navette shape. Openwork design incorporating dramatic, flaring shapes radiating from a raised square set with a diamond. The long axis has elongated fans in gold filigree borders containing moulded sheathes of wheat. The terminals at the end of these reserves are also set with diamonds. The sides are both set with bright blue sapphires - very sparkly gems - the blue offset and contrasting by the gold. Intricate, artistic patterns in the Arts and Crafts taste incorporate the use of the negative, open shapes.
Shoulders and major part of the hoop are finely modeled with foliage. The bezel is raised above a shallow, openwork gallery that allows light to enter from all angles and brighten the stones from behind. Marks: No marks were found. Gold was acid tested to ensure metal purity.
Condition: good with minor wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
