Antique Art Nouveau Ring Platinum Diamonds Opal French Fab opal colors (7181)
Antique Art Nouveau ring. Platinum, diamonds, opal. Made in France, circa 1895 - 1910.
Measurements: Weight is 4.1 grams. Length of bezel is a little over an inch (2.75cm). US size 7.25
Description : Long and elegant ring. French jewellers during the Nouveau period were especially fond of using navette-shaped opals. This is a great example of a fabulous opal. The colors flash across the spectrum in blocks of red and green on a ground of blue and violet with large areas of orange, depending on the light and how it catches the opal. Full of fire and light. Surrounding the opal is an openwork scrolling design with larger diamonds at the terminals and pave set rose cuts within the filigree mount. The ring floats on the finger. Feminine, enhancing, flattering, this ring is a gorgeous adornment and will look as good on your finger as it did on an early predecessor, almost 150 years ago.
Marks and Metal: Outside of shank with man's head (the mask), used in France for platinum.
Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
