Measurements: Weight is 31 grams. Inner circumference approximately 7 1/2 inches (19cm). Width is 3/4 inch (2cm).
Description : Wide cuff bangle.
The inside is smoothe gold. The entire outer surface is decorated with repousse gold botanical subjects - a variety of flowers including roses and poppies, in full bloom; foliage, ivy and berries. Each type is contained in a seperate reserve with broad ribbon borders.
Rich detail from veins of leaves to details of petals. Sculptural in high relief.
Hinged on one side, tongue-in-groove clasp on the other. The opening makes it easy to slip over the hand and onto the arm and then click the clasp in place. There is an additional small gold hinged latch for extra security.
Rich, full, luxurious and lavish. Has a big look - rare large size.
Can be worn alone or stacked with more bangles.
Marks and Metal: Tongue of clasp has slightly worn K18 mark (for 18k gold).
Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
THE STORY: we tend to identify Art Nouveau jewelry with France, but in fact, it was made in many other countries in Europe. Each had a slightly different 'take' on the subject. While this bangle is immediately identifiable as Nouveau, it has a certain lush fullness of decoration that is not common in France. Restricting the adornment to repousse gold (without additional gems or other features), contains its exhuberance and results in a combination of elegance and interest.
