Antique Art Deco ring. Platinum, diamonds and Columbian sugarloaf emerald. Made in France circa 1920-1930. Has two certificates - one from Paris Gemological and one from independent appraiser in USA.
Measurements: Weight is 4.4 grams. Emerald approximately 2.11 ct; 0.36ct diamonds. US ring size is a little over 8.
Description : A fabulous, tall and round sugarloaf cabochon emerald rises above the level of the finger. Beautiful color that gleams and glowers as the light catches it. Surrounding the emerald at it's square base, is a border of very finely, pave set diamonds. Shoulders in the form of triangles that fold into themselves, the geometric lines, pave set with old cut diamonds. Simple platinum band (see condition below).
Certificate from Paris Gemological Laboratory certifies emerald as Columbian with moderate oil treatment. (please see 'photos).
The ring is very well made. It illustrates the finest quality workmanship that the French were so famous for. Design shows wonderful balance between the strength and power of the emerald and the fine workmanship of the diamonds. Exceptional and beautiful. The gem is luxurious and unique.
As wearable today as it was 100 years ago and as stunning.
Marks and Metal: Marks on outside of shank (where French typically put hallmarks), are worn and illegible. Metal was both acid and electronically tested to confirm purity.
Condition: Bezel in good condition with minor wear commensurate with age; shank shows much greater signs of wear. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer.
