Antique Victorian Etruscan Revival pendant earrings. 14k yellow gold granulation and filigree work. Made circa 1870. Measurements: Weigh 8.9 grams. Approximately 1 1/2 inches (3.5cm) long. Description : Articulated, amphora shaped pendant earrings. Flaring surmounts, shield shaped, with rich and fine surface decoration - granules, ropetwist wirework and tiny fleur de lis. A secure hinged system allows the shield drops to move backwards and forwards. The amphora shaped drops with various layers of gold work, tiny scrolling gold handles. Oval rings which are part of the design appear to have a red gold tinge, while the rest of the earrings are yellow gold. Beautifully executed and wonderful solid design. Very Classic, yet as beautifully wearable today as they were about 150 years ago. Wires are easy to insert and comfortable to wear - may be replacements, typical of earrings of this age. Marks: No marks. Gold was acid tested to ensure metal purity. Condition: Good with negligible wear commensurate with age. Possibly replaced wires; can do with a cleaning. No dings/dents of any sort. Please see enlarged pictures and don't hesitate to ask questions which we will do our best to answer. The earrings come in Shrubsole box and receipt dated February 2009 when they sold for $3251.25.
