Lacloche Fres Paris antique brooch. 18k yellow gold and rubies. Made in Paris, France, circa 1900 - 1920. Unisex. Comes in Original, fitted box.

Measurements: Weight is 2.6 grams. Total length is 1 1/2 inches (just under 4cm).

Description : Clever, novelty designs and superior workmanship were a central part of the Lacloche mystique and draw for the rich and famous cognoscenti, who had the inside scoop about the best jewellers in the world from the late 19th to the early 20th century. This brooch is made in the form of a safety pin - something that the rich probably never had need of, but if they did, they would only have one made by Lacloche Fres, so this is a bit of wit on the part of the maker. Fully functioning, you could use it to hold your clothes closed, but rather show it off on a lapel, shirt, tie, hat, blouse or sleeve, where the line of rectangular cut, calibre set rubies will be shown off in all their wonderful red-pink beauty. Beautiful gems and beautifully set.

The pin comes in it's original, fitted box from Lacloche. Leather outside, silk inside lid and velvet inside bottom. Green leather embossed in gold. The bottom reading LACLOCHE FRERES 15 RUE DE LA PAIX PARIS. The silk inside embossed with the same in an ornate gold frame as well as 2 NEW BOND S1 LONDON

Marks and Metal: French eagle head mark for 18k gold and diamond-shaped lozenge for maker as well as engraved LACLOCHE FRES PARIS.
